There are some major differences in the diagnosis and treatment of rabbits and other companion animals. Some medications commonly administered to cats and dogs are dangerous to rabbits. A veterinarian who does not routinely see rabbits or one with no rabbit experience - no matter how fine they may be in other regards - can not make the same accurate and informed decisions as a veterinarian with special training and experience with rabbits. Find an experinced rabbit vet  before you have the need for one!
